Deo Salvator

Founder of @fingerpickersinafrica

In the story of Deo Salvator, a name that conjures up guitar virtuosity and fingerstyle finesse, we meet a musician whose journey began with a stroke of luck.

Imagine this scene: a young Deo, a mere visitor to his cousin’s house, lays his hands on a guitar for the first time. It’s a moment of pure enchantment that compels him to return the very next day, armed with downloaded chords and an unquenchable thirst to delve deeper into the world of guitar and fingerstyle.

With over a decade immersed in the realm of music, Deo Salvator’s journey has taken him from his humble beginnings in Rwanda to stages across 14 countries in Europe, Africa and the UK.

His music transcends mere geography; it dances across cultural boundaries, etching unforgettable memories in the hearts of diverse audiences.

However, Deo is not your average guitarist; he is a master of fingerstyle. His guitar prowess weaves a rich tapestry of emotion, evoking the very soul of the instrument. Heavily influenced by his uncle, a former military sousaphone/tuba player and music teacher, Deo embarked on a solo career as a fingerstyle guitarist.

As well as being a musician, Deo Salvator is the visionary founder of Fingerpickers in Africa. This organisation is dedicated to the promotion of fingerstyle guitar and its academy. His artistic journey has been marked by relentless dedication, an insatiable quest for mastery and an unwavering desire to bridge cultures through the universal language of guitar and fingerstyle.
